Saxophone Repair Master
Russ Ackerman started his woodwind repair as an apprentice at Dorn and Kirschner in northern New Jersey under the supervision of Herbie White and Fred Kirschner. Russ became an instructor at Eastern School of Instrument Repair, and has worked in various repair shops in New Jersey as well as New York City. Some notable artists he has worked for are David "Fathead" Newman, Red Prysock, Clifford Jordan, Bill Saxton, Dave Liebman, Micheal Brecker, Houston Person, as well as Bruce Williams, Anthony Nelson, Lawrence Clark, Jason Curry, James Stewart, Tim Greene, Julius Tolentino, Joe Ford, and many more.
Nick Franciosa has studied saxophone with Eric Kloss, Steve Grossman, and Bob Berg. He studied woodwind repair with Ken Danchese. Nick worked with Dave Guardala as his horn evaluator and is a mouthpiece consultant and designer with Ken Barry at Saxscape Mouthpieces. He is also a Swiss trained master watch maker, and continues to play around the Tri-State Area.
Apprentice in Training
Brian Clines has a degree in saxophone performance from Rutgers University. He is also an accomplished repairman, and performs regularly in the tri-state area. Brian also runs the day to day operations here at Liberty and has the very unique skill of locating the unlocatable. Don't believe me.. Give him a call.
Paul Murphy is an accomplished IT Director who before coming to Liberty Music had years of experience as a independent computer consultant for the tri-state area. He received most of his skills through hands on training and practice starting well before he even graduated high school, but he also attend the Chubb Institute of Technology and the Cisco Networking academy for some formal teaching. He keeps his skills up by taking online courses, and attending community college for various skill sets. Did we mention that Paul couldn't play a saxophone to save his life? Well that's a true, but this particular part of our team keeps this site up and running.
Brian and Russ always do a bang-up job with my horns. They're the first people I think to call anytime something's amiss. The best guys know that attention to detail can be the difference between gear getting in your way, or helping you to sound great, and these guys never miss a thing. Any time I get my horn back from them, I feel like I'm hearing for the first time how the sax is supposed to sound.
